Well what if that’s more of a metaphor than foreshadowing?
Like, things are setting up for a war. We know this. There is no way that Metatron can just take over Heaven without someone being like “awww hell nah” and getting ready to whoop some ass. Someone is going to step up, rally the troops and go to battle. And clearly, the boys will have a huge role in it.
Metaphorically, Sam and Dean are going to become the soldiers John always wanted them to be.
